Renovation rocks, the fire place.....

After 2 long years our flat which double's up as the tfpbc towers is finally completed! I can't pretend it has been easy, and believe me, I wouldn't do it again in a hurry!

We changed pretty much everything.

I was sorting through some old pictures and came across pictures of before......

Before: Cream painted marble fire place, random plug sockets, wall lights.
During: Stripping the marble painted fire place with nitromors, hurts like hell if you get it in your eye!
During: Fire place refurbished and the first lot of wallpaper from Brewers and sons.

After.

Plug sockets removed, fire place stripped and restored to its forma glory, a new wallpaper 'Cow Parsley' by Cole and Son Large mirror and chandelier from Portobello market. Owl vase from Graham and Green. Scented candal from Marks and Spencer.

Have a great week!

The Friendly Party Bag Co's the inspiration, Mothers 60th Party In The Park.

The inspiration behind The Friendly Party Bag Co London, started when planning my Mothers 60th birthday, family get together. With five children aged 5 years - 8 months and 9 adults aged 30 - 63 years I struggled to find personalized filled fabric party bags, so I ended up making them! I didn't have any fabric to hand so I raided the chucking out pile of clothes to make the applique letters, each bag filled with top quality fillers, suitable for each person.  Beautiful up-cycled party bags!

Party in the park went off with a bang, bunting, tents, windmills, rounders, giant 60 balloons (the 6 blew off before Mother arrived!!), giant 60 strawberry pavlova, (amazing!) home made cup cakes, nibbles of all variety, fizz, cocktails, beer, juices and pass the personalized parcel.

As usual I got a bit carried away with the mojito fizz and didn't take that many photos, however there were a few good ones, see below, Happy Birthday Mum! and thank you for being an inspiration as always xx

A bit more about us..............

We are starting to get all our bits and bobs together, we are donating to a few filled party bags to local summer fairs, and wanted to share with you a bit more about us!

The Friendly Party Bag Co aims to bring awareness to children of the importance of waste and recycling, and of course to add fun to a party!
The impact of plastic bags on our environment can be devastating. Here are just a few of those facts:

- Most plastic bags take over 400 years to biodegrade. Some figures indicate that plastic bags could take over 1000 years to break down. This means not one plastic bag has ever naturally biodegraded.
- Plastic bags cause over 100,000 sea turtle and other marine animal deaths every year, when animals mistake them for food.
- In the UK, each person uses around 220 plastic bags each year.
- The manufacture of plastic bags add tonnes of carbon emissions into the air annually.
- In the UK, banning plastic bags would be the equivalent of taking 18 000 cars off the roads each year.

Unbelievable isn't it?

I myself have no children, however with five nieces and nephews and two god children, I have been to my fair share of parties, and can not believe the waste generated from the party bags, most of it being plastic toys that the children show no interest in.

The Friendly Party Bag Co is different, we use 100% natural cotton that has passed the stringent Oeko-Tex Standard 100 test, which confirms that there are no harmful chemicals or pesticides present in the make up of our bags.  Each child is special and unique, so we then add a letter (as requested) made from unwanted donated clothes which is then appliquéd onto the bag by hand, not stitched in a sweat shop in the far east but from a studio in NW6!
Our whole ethos is to encourage each child and parent to reuse the bag as they are too gorgeous to throw away!

Our fillers have been sourced with recycling in mind, and items chosen that won’t be played with for a day and then break, items that can be used time after time, for example contents can include:

Haribo sweets, our pick and mix jellies have been bought in bulk to avoid plastic waste and contain no artificial colours, they are handweighed into a candy stripe paper bag which not only is cute but can be recycled afterwards -or even drawn on.
Activity book, which can be recycled after use.
Crayons and pencils (according to age) again bought in bulk and hand tied with a ribbon, which can be used time after time.
High quality creature mask which can be cut into shapes afterwards to make into a picture.

We also fill our bags with a plane glider for boys and a butterfly glider for girls, a jet ball, stickers, bubbles and a balloon which have been quoted as favourites from my little monsters!

Pics to follow soon x

Bit box bonanza!!

Just to say a big thank you for donations of old clothes from our customers and friends and family of Tfpbc...... our bit box is growing and we cant wait to make gorgeous party bags soon...........x
